IF YOU AND YOUR GUESTS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DISCOMFORT AND
DANGER OF HEAVY ROLLING AND YAWING, YOU WILL APPRECIATE THE VALUE OF TODAY'S
GYRO CONTROLLED FIN STABILIZING SYSTEMS. TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFORM AN UNPLEASANT
SITUATION INTO A COMFORTABLE ONE AT THE TURN OF A SWITCH HAS TO BE EXPERIENCED
TO BE APPRECIATED.
G G Systems offer the advantages of the latest advances in pneumatic (air operated)
technology applied to Marine Stabilizers. G G Systems has been manufacturing their
stabilization systems in Florida since 1976 and have been very active in the East
Coast Market. After 206 installations on vessels from 38 to 125 feet, much experience
has been gained about the benefits of a 4 fin system and the use of compressed air as
the driving medium. After proving the superiority of 4 fin performance, of the 206
installations only 10 were 2 fin.
The immediate response of air combined with 4 small fins offers the best overall stabilization available for vessels from 50 to 150 feet. A 20o roll is typically
reduced to less than 5o while at the same time decreasing pitch as much as 60% in
quartering seas. This design offers the additional unique capability of
consistent stabilization from 4 knots to full speed. This is only possible due to
use of compressed air rather than hydraulics as the source of power to the fins.
An additional important feature is the external break-away fin tube
assembly which eliminates excessive stress on the hull in the event a fin is
struck by a heavy object. The design allows the fin to break away from the hull
under impact without affecting the integrity of the hull or the water tightness.
This is far safer than other types which use a heavy drive shaft that extends through
the hull. Simply by isolating power to the damaged fin the remaining 3 fins will
continue to operate at 75% effectiveness.
G G Systems are the easiest to install. The fin assemblies are small and lightweight
and due to the small fin area and the breakaway fin feature hull reinforcement is
seldom required. The space required inside the hull is minimal with only 2 1/2 inch
internal height. The entire system is operated by safe, clean, medium pressure
compressed air and has NO electrical requirements. The air compressor mounts
on the main engine(s) and is cooled and lubricated by the engine's existing systems.
G G Systems is approved by the American Bureau of Shipping and carries a two year
warranty on all components except the Gyro which is guaranteed for the life of the
installation.
Best of all, the G G Systems 4 fin system costs less installed in most cases than any
of the heavy 2 fin hydraulic systems.
