Power
The amount of air required to operate the system ranges from
16-20 cu. ft./min at 120 psi. depending on the size of the
vessel. This may be obtained from and existing compressor on
the vessel. If however, this is not sufficient, and
additional compressor should be installed. The compressor
may be motor driven, belt driven or directly coupled to the
main engine. Various types of compressors are available to
suit the various installations.
Description of the GG System
The system compromises the following items:
1) Air tank
2) Filter/regulator/lubricator unit
3) Control unit
4) Fins and driving mechanism
5) Bridge control
1) Air Tank
The air tank act as an expansion tank to even out the load on
the compressor in spite of the fluctuation in the demand of
the system.
The tank is fitted with the following items :
a- Drain cock
b- ON/OFF remote valve
c- Pressure gauge
d- Air lnlet fitting
2) Filter/Regulator/Lubricator Unit
The unit consist of a microaelescer filter with automatic
water ejector and a micro-fog oil lubricator. The lubricator
injects oil in the stream of air in the form of a mist of
microscopic oil droplets. This ensures that all internal
parts and operating mechanism are adequately lubricated. The
unit also has a pressure regulator to govern the air pressure
going through the system.
